Aeriochrome

Religious racism in Brazil satisfies the generally accepted criteria for terrorism and genocide” – Dr.Danielle N.Boaz, 2022.

ONGOING PROJECT

Emulating Kodak’s military-purpose, camouflage-revealing Aerochrome film, full-spectrum photography is used to bring an invisible war to light.

These initial photographs below represent the exploratory phase of the project, in which preliminary experimentation with full-spectrum photography and further research was done.

Although being at the root of many facets of Brazilian culture, Afro-Brazilian religions are still repressed and unaccepted by many in the majorly Christian country – who often consider them to be a form of witchcraft or black magic. Acts of violence against its practitioners and sacred spaces continue to this day.

Within a dreamy aesthetic, my project aims to reveal the nightmare that members of Afro-Brazilian religions experience.
