Paneurhythmy

The Universal White Brotherhood’s Spiritual Dance

The Cosmic Sublime Rhythm. That is the direct translation of Paneurhythmy, a spiritual dance practice developed by the Bulgarian mystic Peter Deunov.

It is a core part of the Universal White brotherhood, a spiritual movement founded in 1897 that emphasizes the principles of love, wisdom, and truth. Peter Deunov introduced Paneurhythmy as a method to achieve inner balance and connection with the universal consciousness.

Despite the 40-year communist regime in Bulgaria forbidding such practices, Paneurhythmy flourished in France and has moved on to form followers worldwide.

Here, followers perform a paneurhythmy session in a park in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Based on the idea of living with harmony with nature, Deunov's recommended that paneurthythmic exercises are to be done in the early morning and outside. This is the time when nature is said to be most receptive and contained the most prana - living energy that could be absorbed by the human body. Controlled studies indicate a valuable therapeutic potential, tied to an improvement in the overall quality of life due to health improvement, physically and mentally.

P.S. The name regularly raises questions from people who believe they see a racist connotation.

“White” refers to white light, a spiritual symbol above all others, which is the synthesis of all colours; colours that the mystical tradition considers to be manifestations of the virtues of the soul. “Brotherhood” means that this teaching is addressed to the human community all over the earth, while “Universal” refers to how human beings are capable of raising and expanding their consciousness to a universal conception of life.
